Politics and current affairs

An archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean lying between Scotland and Iceland; it comprises 22 islands, of which 17 are inhabited. Since 1948, it has enjoyed considerable autonomy, with its own legislative assembly (the Løgting) of 33 members and its own government. The islands are not part of the European Union.

Economy.
The main economic activities, which also form most of the country’s exports, are fishing and fish farming as well as fish-drying (cod) and salting. The economy is subsidized by Denmark.
